5 Prayers to Invite More of the Holy Spirit

Too many of us are living in the gap between the life we know and the life Jesus promised. We’re thirsty, and sometimes we settle for any spirit rather than seeking the Holy Spirit Himself. Here are five prayers you can pray when you want to invite more of the Holy Spirit into your life, and verses to reflect on and memorize to ignite your faith.

A Prayer For Freedom

Lord, where your Spirit is, there is freedom. Break off every chain that holds me back and transform me into your likeness with ever-increasing glory. Teach me to live free from fear, guilt, and shame so I can walk boldly in the identity you’ve given me. Let my life be a testimony that true freedom is found only in you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
2 Corinthians 3:17–18

A Prayer to Grow The Fruit of the Spirit

Holy Spirit, help me to abide in you and walk in step with you. Produce in me the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Shape my character so that others see Christ in the way I live and love. Let every decision I make today be led by your Spirit rather than my flesh. Amen.

So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

A Prayer to Be Filled

Holy Spirit, fill me afresh today. Just as I cannot live without breath, I cannot live without your presence. Remove anything in my heart that creates a barrier with you and help me fully surrender. Lead me into the fullness of your will, and let my life overflow with your Spirit to impact others. Amen.

Be filled with the Spirit.

A Prayer to Renew Your Mind

Holy Spirit, renew my mind and transform the way I think. Remove patterns of the world that keep me from living fully for you. Teach me to use my gifts in humility and love as part of the body of Christ. Let my life be marked by your wisdom, not my own limited perspective. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind… We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.

A Prayer For Power

Lord, fill me with boldness through your Spirit. Empower me to be a witness for Jesus, carrying light and hope wherever I go. Give me courage to speak truth, compassion to love others, and faith to step into opportunities you place before me. May your power in me point others to you alone. Amen. 

You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses.
