Learning to Trust God With Your Finances

I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through Him who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:12)

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5)

It is more blessed to give than to receive. (Acts 20:35)

God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. (2 Corinthians 9:8)

And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)

DEVOTIONAL

We often think of finances as a practical part of our lives, but the Bible has a lot to say about money and how it’s connected to our hearts. Money is a lot more spiritual than we might think. In a consumeristic world, God invites us to live counter-culture by being free from the love of money. Instead, he wants us to live with full peace and trust in Him in this area of our lives. 

When we become weighed down with debt, overspending, or greed, we cannot experience the full freedom and peace that comes with good financial stewardship. However, when we step into generosity, budgeting, saving, and a plan for our financial future, we begin to live burden-free in the area of finances. 

Trusting God with our finances is not always easy, but God isn’t looking for overnight perfection. Consider the following questions:

What is one step I could take today to trust God with my finances? 

How could that one step have a ripple effect? 

What does financial freedom look like? 

DECLARATION

Money is not and never will be a problem for me. My God is an abundant provider who meets every need. I am content and full of joy because He is enough. Because I am blessed, I will always be a blessing. And I will lead the way with radical generosity because I know it’s truly more blessed to give than to receive.

PRAYER

Lord, thank you for your faithful provision in my life. Thank you that you are trustworthy. Help me be completely free from the love of money, live generously, and live with peace in my finances. In Jesus’ name, amen.
