READ:

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. (Deuteronomy 31:8)

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. (Joshua 1:9)

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. (John 14:27)

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. (Psalm 23:4)

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10)

You are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance. (Psalm 32:7)

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. (Psalm 56:3)

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. (2 Timothy 1:7)

The Lord is my light and my salvation – so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? (Psalm 27:1)

DEVOTIONAL

The phrase “do not fear” appears in the Bible 365 times, which is enough to remind us to trust God every day of the year. Although it’s easy to tell ourselves not to fear, sometimes our bodies don’t cooperate. When our flight or fight response kicks in, it’s hard for our limbic system to catch up with the truth.

1 John 4:18 says, “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.” So when we catch ourselves slipping into fear, we can ask ourselves, “Am I driven by love or driven by fear?”

Once you identify that it’s fear, close your eyes and remember how much God loves you. Rest in His love for a moment. Remember He is with you, and He is the defender of your heart. Allow His perfect love to drive out your fear.

DECLARATION

I have nothing to be afraid of because God is with me. I trust God and know that He will provide for me and protect me. I used to be full of fear, but today, I will be full of faith as I trust in God. He is my rock, He is my strength, and He surrounds me with ‘songs of deliverance.’

PRAYER

Lord, thank you that you are the defender of my heart. Remind me of how much you love me today. Shower me with the magnitude of your love. Allow your perfect love to drive out all my fear. Help me align with your thoughts and your truth and live with peace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
