Don’t Settle for a Powerless Faith

Scriptures: 

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.

For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.

Devotional:

Have you ever wondered if you’ve received life in Jesus but never fully received His power through the Holy Spirit? It’s possible to accept God’s Spirit yet keep Him muzzled, tucked away in the corner, because we’re reluctant to yield to His leading.

When we do that, we settle for a powerless gospel. Instead of becoming life-giving rivers as Jesus promised in John 7:38, we become stagnant puddles. Jesus came to save us, but the Holy Spirit came to fill us, equip us, and empower us to live out the mission He’s given us.

The tragedy is that many of us leave spiritual gifts unused—still sitting on the table. We are saved, but we’re stuck. God has given each believer gifts meant to build His Church, and through the Church, His wisdom is made known to the world. But if we never unwrap those gifts, we miss out, not just for ourselves, but for the people we’re called to serve.

If we’re not walking in the fullness of what God offers, that should bother us. It should stir something in us to pray, “Holy Spirit, fall on me. Fill me. Have every part of me.” Because when He fills us, puddles turn into rivers, fear turns into boldness, and ordinary people become vessels for extraordinary work.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, I don’t want to settle for a powerless faith. Fill me afresh today. Awaken the gifts you’ve placed inside me and give me the courage to use them for your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
