The Why

The Why

This time is all about building strong relationships. The win is that students are known, learning, and developing a faith of their own. These questions are to simply serve as conversation starters.

Series Vision

We are kicking off a brand new series called “Keep the Fire!” Over the next two weeks we’re going to be wrestling with the idea of what a life on fire for God looks like after we have a spiritual moment.

Your Goal as a Leader

Your Goal as a Leader

The goal of the questions is to guide the conversation, engage students, have them share about the topics, and create a full environment. It's okay if you don't get to every question, as long as students are interacting and involved in group time.

Week One | September 6th

1. If your spiritual life was a campfire right now, would you say it's a raging bonfire, glowing coals, or mostly smoke and ash, and why?

Leader Tip: Ask students to expand on their answers. Ask them follow up questions such as why do you think that?” or, “feel that way”.

2. Just how food nourishes our bodies, God’s word nourishes our spiritual life. How does reading Scripture/your devotional time feed your spiritu differently than just listening to a Sermon?

3. Pastor Todd often says, "Show me your friends and I’ll show you your future." In what ways have you seen your close friends either fan the flame of your faith or cause it to fade?

Leader Tip: Encourage students to think about real environments like group chats or lunch tables, helping them evaluate how those specific influences shape their daily choices.

4. Reading your Bible, praying daily, and choosing godly friends takes effort. Which of these three areas do you find difficult to protect right now? What gets in the way?

5. What is one practical, specific commitment you will make this week to protect your fire—whether setting a daily prayer time, picking a Bible book to read, or setting a friendship boundary?

Week Two | September 13th

1. What are some spiritual indicators or red flags that reveal when your relationship with God is in "low power mode"?

Leader Tip: If students give surface answers, prompt them to think about how their patience, mood, or phone habits change when they feel spiritually drained.

2. What are some daily habits or routines that aren’t bad, but is taking time away from being in God’s presence?

Leader Tip: Remind students that the point isn't that hobbies or tasks are bad, but that being hyper-focused on them can make us blind to what God is revealing right next to us.

3. When you feel a prompt from the Holy Spirit to do something, what usually stops you from obeying right away?

4. King Saul did religious action that looked like he was following God, but his heart wasn’t really following Him. What are some ways we can do the same thing?

5. What is one practical step you can take this week to quiet the noise around you and actively seek the Holy Spirit?
