Why God Runs to You | Keep Talking
For the One | Week 1
Christ Fellowship Team
October 19, 2025
In this message, Pastor Todd kicked off a new series, “For The One,” and taught us about the heart of our Father and the mission that should guide our lives as believers. Use this guide to keep talking about Sunday’s sermon.
SERMON HIGHLIGHTS
- As followers of Jesus, we should care about what God cares about.
- God is desperate for His lost sons and daughters to be found.
- Prodigal: recklessly extravagant; lavish
- The Prodigal Son’s brother shows us that it’s possible to be in the Father’s house, but not close to the Father’s heart—to know the rules, but miss the mission.
- Found people find people.
KEY SCRIPTURES
START TALKING
- What’s the most important or most expensive thing you’ve ever lost? Did you ever find it?
KEEP TALKING
- Pastor Todd said, “The church is supposed to be a safe place for people searching for truth.” How has the church been a safe place for you?
- In Luke 15, Jesus tells three stories of three lost things: The sheep that wandered away, the coin that never knew it was lost, and the son who willfully walked away. Which of these best describes your own story of faith, and why?
- Luke 15:17 says that when the son “came to his senses,” he went back home. Describe a time when you “came to your senses” in your spiritual life. What helped you realize it was time to return to the Father, and what did that moment teach you about His heart?
- Read Luke 19:10. What obstacles prevent you from seeking and helping save the lost?
- Who is your one—the one God has put on your heart to reach? How can you pursue them this week with the love and message of Jesus?
KEEP IT GOING
- We want to be all in on what God is all about. That’s why on November 9, our church is coming together to bring a gift via our Impact Offering that we believe will echo through eternity. Start praying now about what God would have you give in this year’s offering. Together, let’s bring our best to reach the ones God is still pursuing.
PRAYER
Father, thank you for pursuing us with a relentless kind of love. Burden our hearts for the lost. Break our hearts for what breaks yours. We want to look more like you. Open our eyes to the people in our lives who need to be found by you. Use us for your glory. Amen.
