Vision Sunday
Fighting for the Next Generation
Todd and Julie Mullins
The weekend doesn't have to end. Keep Talking on your own or with a group.
Start Talking - Find conversation starters for the group or with a friend.
- Pastors Todd and Julie described this as one of the most important weekends of the year. Why? What comes to mind when you hear the word “vision?”
- Our pastors defined vision as “seeing what needs to change” and “what can be.” What is Christ Fellowship’s vision? Why is vision so important to any organization?
Keep Reading – Read the Scripture and ask a question to get the group thinking.
2 Kings 6:8-17
- Read v. 8-12 again. “Time after time” Israel was warned by the prophet Elisha of the advancing troops, and they were on guard and ready. Why is it so crucial in a battle to “get there first?”
- Read v. 14-17 again. Elisha prayed that his servant’s eyes could see what he saw. How did this vision change the servant’s perspective on the battle?
Psalm 145:4
One generation will declare your works to the next and will proclaim your mighty acts.
- What is the danger if the preceding generation doesn’t “declare your works” to the next generation?
- How can you personally do this to the generation behind you?
Keep Talking – Choose questions to create openness.
Pastors Todd and Julie shared a new battle strategy to achieve our vision. We want to “Get There First.” How do we do that?
1. We realize this won’t happen in just one hour a week!
- Our pastors shared that we must ground our kids and students in the Word of God, and that can’t happen in just one hour on Sundays. Consequently, we will launch CF Kids University, seek to expand our presence in the local schools, and even investigate getting involved in Little League sports activities.
- What did our pastors mean when they said we tried to make church convenient in the past, but convenient isn’t cutting it anymore? What were some of the dire statistics they shared about students that made you realize our students can’t fight this battle on their own anymore?
2. We believe that defining Moments direct Destinies!
- Following on the truth of the first point, this one realizes creating moments for our kids and students changes destinies. So, we will not have just one camp for kids this summer, but camps, and our students’ MVMNT camp and SEU University will both seek to double enrollments!
- More information about these events, and even more activities, will come next weekend, but based on this, what excites you about creating these moments?
Pastors Todd and Julie said this isn’t a vision just for Kids or Student ministries but for ALL of us! Therefore, they challenged us in three ways to make “Get There First” a reality:
1. Prioritize the Places that direct Destinies
- In other words, commit to bringing your family to these growth opportunities every week, or look for ways to serve and invest in this generation.
- Why is consistency so important at these events?
2. Pass the Baton
- Pastors Todd and Julie shared we are in a “holy relay race,” and races are won or lost in the exchange zone. Therefore, we should strive to spiritually bring the younger generation along with us.
- Describe a few practical ways you can do this.
3. Pray
- Our pastors declared we won’t win this race without prayer! And not only that, but we need to teach people, especially parents, how to pray for their families.
- What advice would you give parents on praying for their families?
Keep Moving/Going – Commit to a step and live it out this week.
Don’t forget that Vision Sunday Part 2 will continue next Sunday, but this Sunday alone was an impactful message. Here are some possible next steps for you. Which one(s) will you take:
- Will you join the “spiritual army” and invest in the next generation (see 2 Kings 6:14-17)?
- What will people see when they stand next to you? In other words, will you pass the baton to the next generation every opportunity you get?
- Will you pray for the next generation – specifically one child – by completing this form?
- S.O.A.P out a passage of Scripture from this week.
Keep Praying
- Allow time for prayer requests from everyone in the group.
- Pray
Keep Praising
