Trophies, Triggers, and Traumas | Keep Talking
It's Complicated | Week 2
Christ Fellowship Team
May 4, 2025
In this message, special guests Jimmy and Irene Rollins shared how two equals one in marriage. They also shared the equation we all need for every relationship. Use this guide to continue talking about Sunday’s sermon.
SERMON HIGHLIGHTS
- You will follow you wherever you go.
- We can’t complain about the relationships we refuse to work on.
- We become what we repeatedly do.
- Do not start looking for “the one” until you become one.
- If you are divided internally, you will cause division externally.
- God chose marriage as the mechanism to bring the kingdom of Heaven to earth.
- We must deal with our trauma and issues because there’s a generation behind us who needs a healthy picture of relationships.

- Matthew 7:3-5
- 2 Corinthians 13:5
- Psalms 139:23-24

START TALKING
- What do you think is more complicated today: being single or being married? (We’re so thankful Pastors Jimmy and Irene helped us uncomplicate both in this message!)
KEEP TALKING
- What was your biggest takeaway from Sunday’s message?
- When have you realized that a relationship issue wasn’t really about the other person but something going on within you (e.g., your pride, your insecurity, your fear, etc.)?
- What trophies, traumas, or triggers do you carry within you?
- How do those things shape the way you show up in relationships, for better or worse?
- Read Matthew 7:3-5. Where do you need to change the spirit you’re bringing into certain relationships so you get something better back (i.e., Mirror the moment)?
- The enemy uses unhealthy marriages (and other relationships) to multiply fractures, but God uses healthy marriages (and other relationships) to multiply fruitfulness. What steps do you need to apply this week to multiply fruitfulness in your relationships (Mirror the moment, measure the moment, or map the course)?
KEEP IT GOING
- If you’re looking to grow as you go throughout your week, we recommend checking out any of these five podcasts to help you strengthen your relationships. Ask God to continue speaking to you and then make space to hear His whisper.
PRAYER
Father, please show us the work we need to do so we can reflect you better and our relationships can get stronger. Holy Spirit, we need your help. We give you permission to change us so we can change our relationships. Amen.
