How to Fight Spiritual Battles
Take Back Your Life | Part 4

The weekend doesn't have to end. Keep Talking on your own or with a group.
Start Talking – Find conversation starters for the group or with a friend.
- Have you ever shown up to something unprepared? What was that like?
- How does an understanding that everything in the physical is connected to something in the spiritual impact how you see things now?
Keep Reading – Read the Scripture and ask a question to get the group thinking.
Read these Scriptures out loud:
Ephesians 6:10-13
- Read this passage again. What stands out to you?
- It’s important to recognize that you have a very real spiritual enemy. The Bible – the Word of God – not only tells us about the enemy’s strategies (which haven’t changed since the time of Adam & Eve), but also how we can defeat him using what God has made available to us. What do you see in this passage that gives you insight into something you are dealing with right now?
2 Corinthians 10:3-4
For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.
- If you don’t know how to use the weapons God has given you, you won’t be able to win the battles of life.
- Based on this weekend’s message, how has your understanding of these weapons impacted how you will approach the battles in your life?
Keep Talking – Choose questions to create openness.
1. Put on the full armor of God.
- It is important to note that every piece of God’s armor described in Eph. 6 points to Jesus, so what Paul is telling us is that we need to “put on Christ” (Rom. 13:14, Gal. 3:27) every single day. As Pastor Todd said, “The time to put the armor on is not when you’re in the middle of the battle. You have to put the armor on in advance.
- How can you practically put on God’s armor – put on Christ – each day, so that you are prepared for whatever battle you might face?
2. The Sword of the Spirit – the Word of God
- In Eph. 6, Paul used the Greek word, rhema, when speaking about the “Word of God.” Rhema means a “spoken word, a declaration.” What is being said is that it is the rhema, spoken Word of God that you declare over your circumstances that is the sword of the Spirit. There is power in the DECLARATION of your EXPECTATION.
- How can you use the sword of the Spirit in a situation you are facing right now?
3. Prayer needs to be a priority in your attack against your enemy.
- When we face struggles, prayer should be our first response, not our last resort. Prayer, as described in the “armor of God” passage in Ephesians, can be viewed as artillery support or air cover – prayer brings the presence and power of God to bear on your situation as you pray in faith and in accordance with the Word of God.
- What does your prayer life look like? Does it tend to be a last resort or something you only do when things are really bad? How can you develop a vibrant prayer life with God?
Keep Moving/Going – Commit to a step and live it out this week.
- Get verbal this week – declare the Word of God over your life. Pray over the situations you’re facing.
- Pick one of this week’s key Scriptures and make it a reminder in your phone. Spend a few minutes repeating it and thinking about it each day.
- S.O.A.P out the Scripture this week.
