The weekend doesn't have to end. Keep Talking on your own or with a group.

Start Talking – Find conversation starters for the group or with a friend.

  • What was something that happened to you or that you experienced within the past week for which you are grateful to God?
  • Do you realize that you are first and foremost a spiritual being, made in the image of God, who is Spirit? How does thinking about yourself as primarily a spiritual being rather than primarily a physical being impact how you view yourself, others, and the world in general?

Keep Reading – Read the scripture and ask a question to get the group thinking.

Read these Scriptures out loud:

1 Samuel 30:4,6

  • Take a moment to read these verses.
  • Put yourself in David’s place in this story. How would you have reacted? Do you know how to “encourage yourself in the Lord” when things aren’t going well and you’re alone? What do you typically do when you’re faced with a moment of crisis? Is that what you would like your response to be?

1 Samuel 30:8

  • Many times we are waiting on God to do something for us while He is waiting on us to use the authority He has given us and go do it.
  • What is an area of your life where you have been waiting for God to do something that perhaps you sense God is waiting on you instead?

Keep Talking – Choose questions to create openness.

1. Peace

  • Pastor Todd brought up the verse in 2 Tim. 1:7, showing that fear is a spirit, and it is a spirit that is not from God. We also see in Eph. 2:14 that Jesus Himself is our Peace – He is peace personified.
  • With these truths in mind, read 2 Cor. 10:5. What circumstance or lie of the enemy have you been allowing to steal your peace? Based on these Scriptures, what are you going to do to take back your peace?

2. Possessions

  • As Pastor Todd mentioned, the enemy has stolen from some of us, and others of us have simply given away what is ours either through ignorance or poor judgment.
  • Take a moment to read Matt. 6:24, in which Jesus talks about the spirit of mammon – a spirit that will drive us to place our trust in wealth rather than in God. Take stock of your life right now; whether you have very little or you have a lot, is your trust truly in God, or are you placing your trust in something else?

3. People (Relationships)

  • Conflict within relationships is unavoidable, but when it comes to conflict far too many of us are fighting the wrong enemy.
  • Read Eph. 6:12. Who is your real enemy? What does this tell you about how you should pursue restoring the relational conflicts in your life?

Keep Moving/Going – Commit to a step and live it out this week.

  • Pastor Todd challenged us in 2 key areas this week:

1. Take the authority – if you have placed your faith in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you have delegated authority from Him based on your identity as a son or daughter of God. Instead of being passive, begin to use the authority that has been made available to you.

2. Go on the attack – make a list of what you’re going after – what’s been lost? Then, do some homework – search the Bible for what God says about that issue and then begin to pray and declare the Word of God over that situation.

  • Pick one of this week’s key Scriptures and make it a reminder in your phone. Spend a few minutes repeating it and thinking about it each day.
  • S.O.A.P out the Scripture this week.
