In this message, Pastor Ryan shared how to walk in step with the Holy Spirit and discern His voice. Use this guide to keep talking about what it means to stay in sync with the Spirit.

SERMON HIGHLIGHTS

  • We must be intentional if we want to stay in step with the Spirit.
  • When we stay in God’s Word, we give the Holy Spirit something to work with.
  • Spiritual maturity is reflected in the immediacy of our obedience.
  • We can hear the Holy Spirit to the level that we heed the Holy Spirit.
  • We stay in sync with the Spirit when we:
    • Stay in God’s Word
    • Yield to His leading
    • Never delay our obedience
    • Confess our missteps quickly

KEY SCRIPTURES

START TALKING

  • When you’re walking with friends or family, are you more likely to walk ahead or get left behind?

KEEP TALKING

  • Read Galatians 5:16-17. What are some ways you experience this conflict between your flesh and the Spirit?
  • What are some ways you personally stay in sync with the Spirit?
  • Where do you need to yield to the Spirit’s leading in your life right now?
  • Can you think of a time when you sensed the Holy Spirit leading you but hesitated to obey? What did you learn from that experience?
  • What is something the Holy Spirit has been prompting (or pushing) you to do? What would obedience look like for you this week?

KEEP IT GOING

  • When we pray, “Come, Holy Spirit,” we aren’t just inviting His presence into our lives — we’re giving Him permission to lead and guide us. As you seek to yield to the Holy Spirit this week, check out these prayers and Scriptures to meditate on.

PRAYER

Holy Spirit, thank you for being a close and personal God. Have your way in our hearts this week. Give us ears to hear you when you speak. Make us more sensitive to your promptings. We want to yield to you in all our ways. Amen.
