The weekend doesn't have to end. Keep Talking on your own or with a group.

Start Talking - Find conversation starters for the group or with a friend.

  • What most excites you about what Pastors Todd and Julie shared during our last two Vision Sundays? In what area is God stirring you to get involved?
  • Did you watch this year’s Super Bowl? If so, what was your favorite part – the game itself, the commercials, the people you watched it with,…?

Keep Reading – Read the Scripture and ask a question to get the group thinking.

Read these Scriptures out loud:

Galatians 3:26-29

  • Paul writes that “you are all one in Christ Jesus,” stating that the divisions that exist within our culture – ethnic and racial status, economic and educational status, and gender – are not points of division within the family of God; we are all united.
  • Pastor Jimmy noted that one of the greatest weapons our enemy has is division. What can you do to help bring and maintain unity within the church, the family of God?

Keep Talking – Choose questions to create openness.

Pastor Jimmy preached on the necessity of unity within the church. In Revelation 7:9, we read about people from every tribe, every nation, and every tongue praising Jesus together. If that is the reality of the kingdom of heaven, and Jesus teaches us to pray for God’s kingdom to come and His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven (Matt. 6:10/Lk. 11:2), then it is our job to actively pursue unity here on earth. All of us carry this responsibility.

1. Love Causes Me to Change Clothes

  • Pastor Jimmy said, “Ethnic culture becomes subculture under kingdom culture.”
  • What is a practical step you can take to “change clothes” to gain a better perspective of others within the family of God who don’t look like you or didn't grow up the way you did?

2. Love Calls Me to Step Outside My Comfort Zone

  • Many of us have stereotypes of people who are different than we are; these are false images we create and put on other people without taking the time to get to know them.
  • Pastor Jimmy reminded us that part of the Great Commission involves not only going to those who look, act, and think like us, but also those who are not like us at all. Who comes to mind – perhaps a coworker, neighbor, fellow student – whom you have not really taken the time to get to know because of some differences between you? How can you step outside of your comfort zone and begin to get to know them and love them with the love of God?

Keep Moving/Going – Commit to a step and live it out this week.

  • Challenge: Ask God to show you someone each day to love with the love of God, who’s hard to love.
  • Pick one of this week’s key Scriptures and make it a reminder in your phone. Spend a few minutes repeating it and thinking about it each day.
  • S.O.A.P out the Scripture this week.
