In this message, best-selling author, teaching pastor— and most importantly, our friend—Dr. John Maxwell shared how we can impact our world in the New Year. Use this guide to keep talking about Sunday’s sermon.

SERMON HIGHLIGHTS

  • When we value people and add value to people, it makes our faith attractive to people.
  • When we see people as valuable, we serve them.
  • You don’t have to be like people to reach them, but you do have to like them.

KEY SCRIPTURES

START TALKING

  • Dr. Maxwell said sometimes before we can reach for the future, we have to pause and look back on the past. When you reflect on 2025, what moments, lessons, or relationships stand out to you most?

KEEP TALKING

  • What stood out to you from Dr. Maxwell’s message, and why?
  • What would it look like to practically enter someone else’s world and experience things from their point of view in your life right now?
  • Paul didn’t lose his identity in Christ when he entered other people’s worlds. What does it look like to stay grounded in Christ while being immersed in culture?
  • Of the four pictures of God (Fence, Garbage Can, Ladder, Door), which one do you see most often in the people around you, and how might that shape how you reach them?
  • When you think about your everyday relationships, who might God be inviting you to serve more intentionally so they can experience His love?

KEEP IT GOING

  • As believers, it’s important to head into every new year seeking God’s direction and wisdom. But in order to look forward, it’s helpful to look within and look back. Use this guide to ask strategic questions that will guide you as you reflect on 2025 and look toward 2026.

PRAYER

Father, we’re so grateful that you’re a God who wants to be known. Open our eyes to the people around us who don’t know you. May we live and love in such a way that people are drawn to you through us. Please guide us as we step into the new year. Amen.
