Where do you go when you don’t know what to do? In this message, we learned why experience isn’t always the best teacher and how to find guidance through life's big decisions. Use this resource to keep talking about the sermon.

SERMON HIGHLIGHTS

  • Your decisions determine your direction, and your direction determines your destiny.
  • Even when you don’t know what to do, you can know where to go.
  • When you don’t know what to do…
    • Start with God’s Word
    • Seek godly counsel
    • Stay in Christian community
    • Submit to the Lord

KEY SCRIPTURES

START TALKING

  • When was the last time you found yourself at a crossroads in life?

KEEP TALKING

  • Why do you think experience isn’t always the best teacher? What are the benefits of learning from others?
  • When was the last time you had to seek godly counsel? How did it help you?
  • What keeps you from reaching out to others for wisdom (e.g. fear of rejection, shame, lack of vulnerability)
  • Proverbs 27:17 says, “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.” How are the people around you keeping you sharp?
  • Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us that the key to walking a straight path is submitting to God. Where do you need to submit to God right now? What does that practically look like for you?

KEEP IT GOING

If we’re going to walk in wisdom, we can’t walk alone. We need the right disciplines and people around us to keep us on the right path. Take a step of obedience this week by doing one of the following:

  • Get in God’s Word (because wisdom comes from God and God speaks the loudest through His Word)
  • Seek godly counsel
  • Stay in Christian community (remember, there’s a difference between being near Christian community and being in Christian community)
  • Submit to the Lord
And if you want to take a step and get baptized, next Sunday, November 24 is our Baptism Sunday. Sign up today!

PRAYER

Father, thank you for speaking to us through your Word and for giving us the gift of community. Help us sharpen each other this week so we can look more like you. Amen.
