Change Is a Process | Joyce Meyer

The weekend doesn't have to end. Keep Talking on your own or with a group.
Start Talking - Find conversation starters for the group or with a friend.
- We recently finished our series, REALationships. What was the biggest takeaway for you from this series?
Keep Reading – Read the Scripture and ask a question to get the group thinking.
Read these Scriptures out loud:
Romans 8:29 (AMP)
For those whom He foreknew [of whom He was aware and loved beforehand], He also destined from the beginning [foreordaining them] to be molded into the image of His Son [and share inwardly His likeness], that He might become the firstborn among many brethren.
- God’s intention for us has always been for us to become like Jesus. Everything that God has done and has given to us is for this purpose.
- How does knowing God’s desire and intention for you to become more like Jesus impact how you view yourself?
Keep Talking – Choose questions to create openness.
1. Becoming More Like Jesus
- Joyce shared that God’s intention for us is to continually become more and more like Jesus, to be conformed to His image. This means that the thoughts, words, and actions that Jesus displayed in His life and ministry serve as a model for how we glorify God in our lives.
- Were you aware that God intends for you to continually grow and develop, with the goal of thinking, speaking, and acting just like Jesus? What does this look like in your life?
2. Living Without Frustration
- We can often become frustrated and deal with feelings of guilt because we try to change to be more like Jesus, yet continually fail. This is where the grace of God comes in. Grace is “undeserved favor,” but it’s also so much more than that – the grace of God is the power to do what we cannot do on our own in order to be continually conformed more and more into the image of Jesus.
- What has your understanding of grace been? Has it been limited to just thinking of it as undeserved favor? How can understanding grace as God’s enablement to help us to change impact how you submit to and partner with God to change the areas in our lives that need to change?
3. Treat the Word of God Like Medicine
- Joyce gave some very practical advice when it comes to partnering with God to change the areas in our lives that need changing. While we cannot change on our own and need the grace of God to enable us to change, this doesn’t mean that we’re passive. Our part is to immerse ourselves in the Word of God. Joyce gave the imagery of using the Word of God like medicine – for example, if you have an anger problem, study and meditate on what the Bible says about anger.
- What area(s) is God dealing with you that needs changing? What does the Bible have to say about that?
Keep Moving/Going – Commit to a step and live it out this week.
- Take some time this week to search the Word of God regarding what God has made known to you that needs to change [an attitude, behavior]. Write down those Scriptures that apply and seek God’s grace and meditate on those passages.
- Pick one of this week’s key Scripture and make it a reminder in your phone. Spend a few minutes repeating it and thinking about it each day.
- S.O.A.P out the Scripture this week.
