In this message, Pastor Todd unpacked what Scripture really says about the end times and how it should shape the way we live today. Use this guide to keep talking about Sunday’s message.

SERMON HIGHLIGHTS

  • We don’t know for certain when Jesus is coming back, but we know for certain that He is coming back.
  • The purpose of prophecy is always practical.
  • Prophecy is not designed to satisfy your curiosity but to sanctify your character.
  • Don’t be deceived — stand firm in your faith.
  • Don’t be alarmed — but be prepared.
  • Don’t look down — look up.
  • “If you read history, you will find that the Christians who did the most for the present world were just those who thought most of the next… It is since Christians have largely ceased to think of the other world that they have become so ineffective in this one. Aim at Heaven and you will get earth thrown in — aim at earth and you will get neither.” C.S. Lewis

KEY SCRIPTURES

START TALKING

  • Pastor Todd referenced several of the movies that have been made about the end of the world. If you were living in one of those movies and you had to survive in an underground bunker, what three things would you bring?

KEEP TALKING

  • What was your biggest takeaway from this message? In what ways was it a wake-up call for you?
  • Read Matthew 24:12. How could being too comfortable here cause our love for God to grow cold?
  • How does the hope of Jesus’ return shift your perspective on what matters most today?
  • What would you start doing if you knew Jesus was returning this year? What would you stop doing?
  • Jesus said, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel” (Mark 16:15). Who in your life needs to hear about Jesus, and what’s one step you could take toward that conversation?

KEEP IT GOING

  • We kicked off this year with a series about what matters most — and what matters most isn’t this life, but the next one! Check out some of these resources if you need help refocusing on eternity.

PRAYER

Lord, thank you for promising to prepare a place for us. What a gift to know that the end of this life is just the beginning of a new life with you. Help us refocus and live with eternity in mind. Burden our hearts for the people in our lives who need you. We want to be ready for your return. Amen.
