In this message, Coach Tom shared insights from his new book, “Grandpa’s Wisdom.” Use this guide to keep talking about how to leave behind a faith that lasts.

SERMON HIGHLIGHTS

  • Discernment: The God-given ability to separate truth from deception and make righteous decisions.
  • We know that our life decisions carry with them a compound impact for our good, or carry consequences that can keep us from God’s best for our lives.
  • Knowledge is a playbook, but wisdom is executing the right play at the right time.
  • Transformation doesn’t come from information, but revelation.
  • Guard your integrity, and it will guard you.
  • 3 keys to growing in wisdom:
    • It all starts with Jesus
    • Pray and ask God for wisdom
    • Walk with the wise

KEY SCRIPTURES

START TALKING

  • If you could go back in time and give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

KEEP TALKING

  • Think about the wisest person you know. What makes them wise, and what have you learned from them?
  • Read James 1:5. If you could have wisdom in one area of your life, what would it be (e.g., finances, relationships, career decisions, etc.)?
  • Wisdom causes us to live by the principles and precepts of the Word of God, not the pressures of the world. Where in your life do you feel tension between God's principles and the pressures of culture?
  • Read Proverbs 13:20. Who are you intentionally walking with right now? How are your current relationships shaping your pursuit of wisdom?
  • Who might be walking in your footsteps? What kind of legacy do you want to leave?

KEEP IT GOING

  • As you reflect and pray on the legacy you want to leave, check out this guide to reflect on the life you’re living and the legacy you’re leaving.

PRAYER

Father, we’re so grateful that we can always turn to you for wisdom. Open our eyes to the truth of your word and teach us how to apply it to our daily lives. May the way we live today lead others to you and leave behind a legacy that honors you. Amen.
